Every day I roam around Melbourne, I always spot amazing street art covered on the side walls of cafes, and in alley ways. Some are just random street art, others are done by professionals. I've decided that everyone should be able to see it, so it will be a regular feature on this blog.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The other day, I went to Balaclava to visit a friend. We met at Las Chicas which is right by Balaclava train station. While sitting in their outside area I noticed some neat artwork on the bridge near us. It reminded me very much of the artwork found in Camden in London.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRJxCw3q6YBYAVPQGemNfxiDoEiMAosBN1ZiD2GsEz_1QKrM7TflmvnKWvxlUyMb4j7umGbYoFoEdJnLs352b-cVX-YnBUVUZF75-LZaOVC2v01ADDNhauQG2HkILRnpUSQCg68qCsIJdp/s1600/balbridge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRJxCw3q6YBYAVPQGemNfxiDoEiMAosBN1ZiD2GsEz_1QKrM7TflmvnKWvxlUyMb4j7umGbYoFoEdJnLs352b-cVX-YnBUVUZF75-LZaOVC2v01ADDNhauQG2HkILRnpUSQCg68qCsIJdp/s1600/balbridge.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
On the side walls of the cae, Las Chicas had professional art work adorning it. It was pretty funky.<br />

Last night, like most nights, I close my laptop, turn off my desk lamp and pop into bed. Before I start the drama of trying to fall asleep, I scroll through my Instagram feed (for some reason I like looking at it before I get to sleep - I like looking at cool photos to get my creative side going) and eventually I set my alarm on my phone. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Unfortunately, I stumbled upon the most amazing photo posted by Ex-Playmate Holly Maddison. She was posing with a friend and both were wearing this amazing hoodie dedicated to Marie Antoinette. Naturally, I fell in love with it and had to find where it was from.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://beta.threadless.com/product/2455/The_Beheading_of_Antoinette" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOq05qKXah0ED5SnO2Pk0QkR5DotS4jtiCpt96ZmJ8QNc7v_-7Yox389XKyFrjQaHfyqvkGk2VC95lR8L3LMZIvidyu2Qi0QeGHswtiweycU7lgLsx1bg3R4MMcRLOrZRzwQR9YnorXsfF/s1600/brioche01.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The Beheading of Antoinette.<br />
(Click on image for Threadless link.)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I love the simplicity of the design. The colours used are very French and the illustration as a whole is lovely. I love the quote and the very French type used. It really is the best illustration that I have seen in awhile. (Well, apart <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/109264600/bad-girls-throughout-history-postcards?favorite_listing_id=109264600&show_panel=true" target="_blank">from these</a> which I discovered from <a href="http://designlovefest.com/" target="_blank">DesignLoveFest.com)</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
While I'm still pondering over wether or not I actually need the hoodie, the image now adorns my desktop wallpaper and makes me smile so. damn. hard. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And it also makes me want cake! </div>

Like most people addicted to social media, I'm a big fan of Instagram. I like taking photos of food, drinks, cats and pretty things. I'm not normally a fan of "selfies" but every now and then, I like a bit of validation, so I jump on the bandwagon. Here is a collection of photos I've posted over the past month.</div>

The theme for her party was a 'Mad Hatter's/Alice' theme. I always like to bring something, especially if it's at the persons' home, so for this bash I decided to make some teapots. They are extremely easy and relatively quick to make.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsNtBIvE965uIZLeBngbiCAhoRFbC1FFoJhTLXHq5VBy5B8d0CV6TgSjWePlT42215HPbfopuRCUjNjK5jzOt0zy1Vg4NpLSaUV_r8G2ANWjgyiPvPS3z7116RF0fTxs2kgYXKDev9zKMI/s1600/teapots.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsNtBIvE965uIZLeBngbiCAhoRFbC1FFoJhTLXHq5VBy5B8d0CV6TgSjWePlT42215HPbfopuRCUjNjK5jzOt0zy1Vg4NpLSaUV_r8G2ANWjgyiPvPS3z7116RF0fTxs2kgYXKDev9zKMI/s1600/teapots.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 1: In a small bowl, mix up some icing sugar with water. It shouldn't be runny or too thick.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 2: Cut each lifesaver in half.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 3: Dip the bottom of the marshmallow in the icing sugar and immediately place it on a Tic Toc biscuit, colour facing upwards. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 3: Dip the sides of the lifesavers in the icing sugar and attach to the side of the marshmallow. (You may have to hold them together for a wee bit to ensure they stick properly.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 4: Dip the bottom of the freckle in the icing sugar and then on top of the marshmallow.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Done!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>ProTip: These look really great if you have pink marshmallows on other coloured biscuits and the same with the other colours. It just looks better rather than having them all the same colours.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Any colour, on practically anything, I'll take it.<br />
<br />
Over the past week or so, I've just been adding more to my polka dot collection. Including these gorgeous pens from <a href="http://shop.cottonon.com/shop/product/spinout-pen-purple-spots/" target="_blank">Typo</a>. It didn't help that Typo had a Everything Under $5 sale! ;-)<br />

I probably sound a bit cray cray that I can't decide which one is my fave! heehee. I have a feeling they also had a pink polka dot one, but they didn't have any in stock. My main reason for thinking this is that these mugs are in pastel form and there's usually a pink one whenever anything is in pastel! Either way, I'm definitely keeping my eyes open for a pink one.</div>

In Australia, the one day of the year that is fantastic for scoring jaw dropping sales is Boxing Day. Some go just for the sake of looking, others go because they have things they need that are normally far too expensive! Normally during Boxing Day, I avoid the shops and spend the day lounging around chilling out, watching tv etc etc. But this year I was lured by the sales and went shopping. I joined some friends bright and early (9am to be exact!) at Westfield's Doncaster store to take advantage of the sales.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Whenever anything is on sale, for some reason I don't like it. But this Boxing Day I actually found some pretty cool things (that I actually needed as well). I've created a little scoreboard of what I went home with. As you can see, I spent the majority of my time at Peter Alexander. They are usually to expensive for my uni student budget so I definitely stocked up on their super cute intimates!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq5IY570m8CgCWMsdS0K_CnafnvQx22OvlKF045aFu9IwoWIXaaRraYDDMN3LwMmIUTed9kHdUpVV7wzpYVhra76DINPckFoFpVojH59FDhqtekpH2NQDtsS8i2hRmi5thLdtpdlme6isR/s1600/boxingdaytreats.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq5IY570m8CgCWMsdS0K_CnafnvQx22OvlKF045aFu9IwoWIXaaRraYDDMN3LwMmIUTed9kHdUpVV7wzpYVhra76DINPckFoFpVojH59FDhqtekpH2NQDtsS8i2hRmi5thLdtpdlme6isR/s1600/boxingdaytreats.jpg" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Before I went I made a mental note of things I needed so I wouldn't overspend. I didn't stray once and was pretty damn happy with my purchases. I even ended up buying some suncream as while I was driving around on Christmas Day, I managed to cop some wicked painful "driver's burn" on my arm. I lathered up on the stuff when I got back into the car for the drive home!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I also learned a few things, which I am
going to tuck away for next year. The major one being starting super
early (as in way before 9am!), bring some water and comfy shoes, and get
some suncream for the driver there and back (depending on the weather
of course!). Being patient while waiting in ques and trying to find a
car park also helps. I spent most of the time in the ques at Peter Alexander singing along to the
songs they played which made the shopping trip more enjoyable and go
quicker!</div>

It gets so hot here we all tend to freak out and have no idea how to handle it, especially in Melbourne. One of the best things to do is to sit in the sun and sipping on a cool drink.<br />
<br />
Lately, I've been noticing some amazing silicon ice cube trays in almost every shape possible. Everything from the bat signal to an octopus even to the shapes from Tetris!
I love using these in my all my drinks (except tea and coffee of course!) as they make something you do every single day seem a little less boring and it never fails to put a smile on my face when I see tiny stars or hearts floating around in my drink.<br />

I love everything about it from the Gingerbread lates, to the wreathes hanging in the shopping malls, to the fairy lights <i>everywhere </i>and all the Christmas specials. The songs, movies and special television episodes.<br />
<br />
Below are some of my favourite Christmas media.<br />
<br />

comedians and this segment never fails to cheer me up.</div>
</div>

I've been searching YouTube and the web for a copy of the rap music video Troy and Abed did in a Christmas episode of Community called the Christmas Infiltration. It's a simple, sunny day, but one with a few things that just make you go to sleep smiling. For me, it was today, which is surprising, because it was a Monday.<br />
<br />
-> Having a texting conversation with a very good friend which lasts all day.<br />
<br />
-> Hanging out with a friend talking nerdy computer things.<br />
<br />
-> Having a beautiful, perfect, sunny day (also rare for a Melbourne in general).<br />
<br />
-> The Tab's <a href="http://durham.tab.co.uk/2012/11/30/the-naked-calendar-to-end-all-naked-calendars/" target="_blank">Naked Calendar to End All Naked Calendars</a> - You're Welcome Ladies!<br />
<br />
-> Scoring a free coffee.<br />
<br />
-> Finding out a friend's etsy shop is listed in the etsy pull-out from this month's Shop Til You Drop magazine.<br />
<br />
->Spending all day counting down until pay day (which is the next day) and then realising it was actually today, lols.<br />
<br />
-> <a href="http://www.laineygossip.com/The-Vampire-Diaries-Season-4-Episode-8-recap/25390" target="_blank">This great review</a> of this week's episode of the wonderfully trashy The Vampire Diaries.<br />
<br />
-> <a href="http://www.aktifmag.com/top-20-of-2012-famous-thinkers-quoting-herald-sun-readers/" target="_blank">Atifmag</a> did their 2012 recap of <a href="http://www.aktifmag.com/top-20-of-2012-famous-thinkers-quoting-herald-sun-readers/" target="_blank">Famous Thinkers Quoting Herald Sun Readers</a> list (it's a hoot and a half!).<br />
<br />
-> Accidentally purchasing a plane ticket to see that great friend you had a texting conversation with all day (might not actually be an accident).<br />
<br />
What did you get up to today?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605847036751428146.post-79140317364858587232012-12-01T21:17:00.003-08:002012-12-06T20:03:44.799-08:00Getting my volunteering on this Christmas.<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have always thought about volunteering. It's always been in the back of my mind but I didn't want to be one of those annoying folk who rattle cans around and harass you in the middle of the street when you're on your way somewhere. I've also been held back by fear which is ridiculous because there's nothing scaring about helping people!</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was surfing the web and loosing myself amongst the maze of gorgeous blogs and stumbled across <a href="http://myergiftwrap.visionaustralia.org/" target="_blank">Vision Australia's Gift Wrap</a> program. They set themselves up in the Australian department store <a href="http://www.myer.com.au/" target="_blank">Myer</a> every year from the 17th-24th December and offer a gift wrapping service. The cost of the service is a simple donation ($2, $4 or $6 - depending on size) although you are welcome to pay more if you like. </div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I<i> love</i> wrapping gifts - it's one of my favourite things about Christmas so my natural response to this was HELLS YEAH! It automatically put me in a great mood and all I'd done was sign up! I attended a training session yesterday afternoon and am really looking forward to getting into it in the next few weeks. </div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The theme of the gift wrap this year is pretty and classy with corporate white boxes, corporate white tissue paper & wrapping paper and a gorgeous red grosgrain ribbon tied into a classic bow. (I will be posting sneaky pics as soon as I start.)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

It's nothing nearly as extravagant as the scene in <i>Love Actually, </i>which is what I thought of as soon as I saw the advertisement for it and it put a huge smile on my face (I really like that scene - if you have forgotten I've linked it below).</div>

Earlier during the week I went to see the final instalment of the Twilight movies: Breaking Dawn Part 2. I knew it was going to be rubbish but as I'd already seen the previous movies, I felt I had to see the rest. What a complete waste of time it was! So much fakeness to it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>1. Bella and Edward suck as parents</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
All they want to do is shag 24/7 and spend much of the time making out or pulling vacant expressions. They shed some light on having responsibility over the kid, but not much. All they want to do is have sex and stare at each other.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>2. The whole thing was fake, fake, fake.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The film was heavily cgi'd and fake. It included a fake, cgi baby that had been cgi'd way too much that it didn't even look like a normal newborn. Maybe it's cos I knew it would be a cgi baby instead of a real one, but either way I was unimpressed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>2.5 More fakeness.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The twist they had at the end was a load of rubbish. This IS NOT CLEVER STORYTELLING. the fight scene was amazing and had me having emotions over characters dying even though I didn't really have any strong feelings towards them before. When the twist happened everyone in the cinema was all 'wtf?" So I guess it served it's 'shock factor' moment so they would have something to talk about but still I left feeling lied to and a bit dirty. During the fake fight scene they had ridiculous sound effects which resembled ripping off a Barbie dolls head.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>3. It felt like a music fanvid.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This was mostly due to the memory montages scattered throughout it. They did this briefly in the others, but they really hammed it up this time. While they were good, if I knew that was all it was going to be I would've just spent 2 hours surfing through YouTube.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
HOWEVER</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The one thing I really, really liked, was that Jacob got his kit off and made the whole thing worth it just to see those abs.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

One of my favourite places to go to is <a href="http://lounge.com.au/" target="_blank">The Lounge</a>, which is in the heart of Melbourne's shopping precinct, on Swanston Street. The Lounge is an excellent venue with super friendly staff. It's especially enjoyable when you have perfect, sunny weather as you can enjoy your day/night on their decent sized balcony.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My friend V and I spent our Sunday avo enjoying a jug (or two) of Sangria (my favourite cocktail) for $14, a bowl of chips for $8 and some mini hamburgers with a side of (moar!) fries for $13. I absolutely love this entire meal. Always satisfying!</div>

I am slowly adding the best of my assignments from my first year at uni. These essays will reflect my writing skills and that I am genuinely interested in technology (whenever I can, I try to choose the technology based question for essays).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It's been about 10 years since I was last at uni and even then we were not required to write essays (as they were my Multimedia and I.T. degrees) so it's definitely been a learning experience!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here is a link to the page with my uni work. I will be adding in my coding portfolio soon.</div>

Yesterday, I wanted to have a look at the <a href="http://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/whats-on/exhibitions/exhibitions/ballet-and-fashion" target="_blank">Ballet & Fashion exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria</a>. For me to want to see an exhibition and actually go (when I'm not traveling) is a pretty big deal. I've seen a similar exhibition put on by the Arts Centre and it was a great opportunity to see the actual costumes used up close, so I just had to go. (I'm also on uni holidays so desperate for free things to do.)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
They had some outfits from Black Swan, Romeo & Juliet and a few others scattered about. The event is free and I highly recommend going if you're in Melbourne.</div>

After the exhibition, I had a look at the Christmas window display down at Bourke Street Mall that Myer put on every year. This year marked their 57th Annual Display and featured characters from Shaun the Sheep. I took more photos than the ones posted here, however I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get rid of the nasty reflection in the windows. These are the best ones I can publish. Luckily, they are my favourite!</div>

For our Sunday lunch my mum, sister & I went to <a href="http://www.foxybrown.com.au/" target="_blank">Foxy Brown</a> in Northcote. It's situated right in between Westgarth and Darebin train stations. Whenever my mum & I are on the train, we always oggle at it through the foggy windows, and were so pleased when my sister suggested it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Inside it was pretty cosy, with a very relaxed vibe and was quite busy, which is unsurprising for a cafe in Melbourne on a Sunday!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I chose to have 'Simply Foxy' which included one poached egg, avocado, a side of feta, & fresh greens with toast.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8agH5-47HELs_GCvPx0TkHgi1ZUmpNVc6zvjnKJ8T0wNabzF7izSmhmfvUFn1lMZ2P6OPUZ2VyCWraVVGX1d5fhlEBNIdrPpK21ismYS5hNJarH2ELoOvrTfhfaLo8Gn2kjhptbUdcw7c/s1600/foxybrownfood.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8agH5-47HELs_GCvPx0TkHgi1ZUmpNVc6zvjnKJ8T0wNabzF7izSmhmfvUFn1lMZ2P6OPUZ2VyCWraVVGX1d5fhlEBNIdrPpK21ismYS5hNJarH2ELoOvrTfhfaLo8Gn2kjhptbUdcw7c/s320/foxybrownfood.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It cost about $14 and I added some extras being bacon and holoumi, which were both an extra $4 each. Totally worth it. </div>

It started off with cupcakes, always cupcakes, but every now and then it's always great to try something new. Lately, I have also found I've been leaning towards more savory foods than sweet. Two flavours that go remarkably well are almonds and raspberries. Granted raspberries are wonderful with almost anything (as far as cakes and pastries go of course), but with almond, it's quite interesting.<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">The recipe which was made today was the Raspberry Bakewell Pudding as seen on the cooking show 'The Hairy Bikers'. My father adores THB so we constantly see the episodes, much like how I constantly watch Nigella. The recipe below can be seen on their TV show 'The Hairy Biker's Food Tour of Great Britain' and in the shows book (also of the same name).<br /></div><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Ingredients</span>:<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOJc4Y7bxmdrF8FyKo0lP0Z6ax45fs0t8nCbsIX_ZpR6v3_y0o4CGQ02nad61W6lbEl6PRTB0nQiwBf3hqz7wTKw7bFP2W8hN7v7oEXlpi9Zh6rPgHMzHVst-NpSRsVgFrQKH6spEuB2jM/s1600/bakewell_ingredients.png"><img style="float: right; margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOJc4Y7bxmdrF8FyKo0lP0Z6ax45fs0t8nCbsIX_ZpR6v3_y0o4CGQ02nad61W6lbEl6PRTB0nQiwBf3hqz7wTKw7bFP2W8hN7v7oEXlpi9Zh6rPgHMzHVst-NpSRsVgFrQKH6spEuB2jM/s320/bakewell_ingredients.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5666619414120180066" border="0" /></a><br /><br />1 packet of puff pastry<br />4-5 tbsp seedless raspberry jam<br />150g fresh raspberries<br />100g unsalted butter<br />100g caster sugar<br />5 eggs<br />150g ground almonds<br />a few drops of almond essence<br />icing sugar and cream to serve (optional)<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><div style="text-align: justify;">Preheat the oven 190 C/Gas 5. I have been lucky enough to have exceptional customer service from two very good online stores that make retail customer service in Australia look like a joke. Yes, I understand it's a bit difficult putting up with silly customers in person (I've been there so I know exactly how it feels), but it doesn't hurt to 'go the extra mile'. Especially when customer service from a majority of online stores are set so high.<br /><br />While purchasing items at <a href="https://www.joythestore.com/">Joy</a> I received a very prompt email from their customer service team informing me that sadly, the dress I had requested was no longer available in my size. Instead, they offered me in-store credit for another item (I chose <a href="http://www.joythestore.com/p-26023-louche-esmerelda-crop-cardigan.aspx">a very cute cardi</a>) and they returned my remaining monies that very day. Impressive, no?<br /><br />I love Halloween. I love getting dressed up (scary or sexy), having a fun night out and meeting lots of new people. Sadly, Australia doesn't get as involved in the holiday as the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. But this year, I am going to celebrate it. I went over to the <a href="http://www.badkittyexoticwear.com/shop/">Bad Kitty</a> website, and picked out <a href="http://badkittyexoticwear.com/shop/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&zenid=3648c308164ca779416d6e0fd704cbae&keyword=cupcake+dress&x=0&y=0">this gorgeous cupcake print costume</a>. After I took my measurements, I realised the sizing chart they had was a bit difficult to understand, they just didn't seem right at all! So, I sent an email to their customer service team and told them my measurements and asked if the costume ran small or large etc. They came back with a very speedy and detailed reply (love!) informing me the costume was actually a Junior size, but they recommended the size that should fit me best. Fingers crossed it arrives in time and fits perfectly!<br /><br />Which stores have you recently shopped at online who have provided amazing customer service?</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605847036751428146.post-90149285894466366812011-10-15T22:32:00.000-07:002011-10-23T02:10:00.861-07:00Christmas shopping: done and dusted!<div style="text-align: justify;">Apart from my birthday and Halloween, Christmas is my favourite time of the year. It's the best time to indulge in baking (and eating) all those gorgeous little treats (bonbons, cupcakes, cake, mince pies, oh how the list goes on) and shopping (of course!).<br /><br />I know it's only October, but this year my Christmas shopping for my immediate family has been done and dusted, with thanks to online shopping. And yes, a majority of those stores were from the United Kingdom. I have to say though, shopping online can be just as exhausting as it is in the actual store! Some reasons why:<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">> Registering an account.</span><br />This can be a huge pain especially if you are an international shopper. They don't recognise your home address or your telephone number! What to do?! You have to find tricky ways around it to ensure they have all your details in the form.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">> Converting.</span><br />Oh God. Conversion rates! I'm rubbish with maths. I really am terrible, so I have to open up <a href="http://xe.com/">xe.com</a> on another tab and quickly do a conversion to see how much it will be in AUD and if I have enough in my account. Then you have to log onto NetBank.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">> Decisions.</span><br />The one thing I find really really great about online shopping are the reviews and the descriptions. You need to read them all to see exactly what people think about that product. You don't want to spend lots of money on an item to find out it won't work properly, or look the way it does on the screen.<br /><br />Apart from those three main troubles I have with online shopping, I still love it. Everyone loves getting mail! It's even better when the item you purchased fits exactly. You don't have to deal with the massive rush in the stores and snotty customer service staff. Yes, it's a wee bit antisocial, but that's the way it's going. I'd take online shopping any day!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605847036751428146.post-69643702187391078532011-10-02T11:43:00.001-07:002011-10-23T02:11:05.331-07:00Shopping in London. So much shopping!<div style="text-align: justify;">So, I totally lied about my holiday in London. I told everyone that I wasn't going to get stuck in London and not go anywhere. Biggest lie ever. I spent a majority of my time in London drinking with my mates, being hungover, shopping (OMG SHOPPING!) and chilling out in parks on sunny afternoons.<br /><br />I did do some sightseeing. I saw Hampton Court Palace, Windsor Castle and the Natural History Museum. Then I went to Amsterdam with Camilla and went to the Cat Museum (yes there is a real one, though it felt like we were in our Grandmother's living room and she showed us her cat collection), where I was far more excited about the resident cats curled up in the corners sunning themselves and the Museum of Bags and Purses (which was by far one of the most awesome museums I've been in).<br /><br />But SHOPPING. Oh bless my little heart and my bank account, I shopped my heart out. From the moment I decided to go and purchased my ticket, I swore to myself I wasn't going to buy any clothes until I went away (this was at least 6 months people!) and the only dress I did purchase was from Miss Selfridges and that was a sexy, red strappy thing for my birthday.<br /><br />These are the shops I was obsessed with:<br /><br /><a href="http://www.fatface.com/">Fat Face.</a><br />This store has some gorgeous little gems in it. All are ridiculously comfortable and pretty floral prints. Their Autumn collection was a winner on all fronts. They have comfy cotton dresses for hot summers and wickedly comfortable sweaters and hoodies (which I lived in at night when it got chilly). All are reasonably priced and the staff are sexy.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.joythestore.com/">Art of Joy</a>.<br />All the clothes look better in person - trust me. The dresses are sexy tea dresses, glamorous evening dresses, slouchy comfortable sweaters (and cute little cardigans (all of which are going towards my next pay check as they sell to Oz) as well as quirky homewares.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.topshop.com/">TopShop</a>.<br />When I woke up on the first Saturday I was in London, I jumped on the tube and got off at Oxford Circus. As I walked up the staircase I saw the gorgeous, massive store logo in all it's wonderful glory aiming closer to me like a beacon of light. As soon as I went in I purchased some awesome shoes (trust me I'm a horrible person to shop for as my feet are super tiny and I loathe shoe shopping in the first place). They were the first thing I saw and were a perfect fit. So I had to get them. Other neat finds were some cute, simple dresses which are perfect for work (and play) and some cute tanks. All reasonably priced.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.hm.com/gb/">H & M</a>.<br />I'm so sad that yet another wonderful store isn't offered on my side of the equator. H &M offers ridiculously cheap, trendy, pretty and comfortable clothing. I think I (once again) stocked up on their Autumn line which includes a gorgeous cat print jumper, a couple of tea dresses with prints and colours I adore as well as a Ciao shirt which made me remind myself of Brooke and the whole 'Ciao' debacle back in 2007.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.lasenza.com.au/store.cfm?lang=eng&gclid=CPKNmN_XyqsCFWVV4godhA6e1A">La Senza</a>.<br />La Senza has on offer some gorgeous lingerie at affordable prices. They often have 5 knickers for $20 (etc) which is such a good price because at this store, I can never decide on just the one pair and end up with about 10 of them. All extremely comfortable (to the point you don't know if you are wearing anything) and sexy. The prints are far too cute to say no too!<br /><br /><a href="https://www.tattydevine.com/">Tatty Devine</a>.<br />Tatty Devine is an independent London jewelry designer. She sells quirky pieces you'll never find anywhere else. I purchased the cat rings (super cute no?) and am waiting patiently for when the mermaid necklace (which is at the moment a once off piece for London Fashion Week) becomes available to the public and the name neclaces which are gorgeous.<br /><br />I can tell (for the next few months at least) that I am going to be doing a lot more online shopping!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605847036751428146.post-46070437910453954222011-09-02T02:35:00.000-07:002011-10-23T02:13:48.200-07:00Faffing about in London<div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">This week has been pretty crazy. So many amazing things have happened and it has just reminded me why I love being here in London. I'm enjoying myself more this time around and it feels like I'm doing London 'properly' as I'm not spending it drinking and being hungover all the time. Having said that, I have gone out almost every night I've been here. But I'm on holiday, and my first proper one in years so I'm making the most of it!</div><br /><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">This past Monday was the Bank Holiday. We went to Notting Hill Carnivale to watch the parade, outrageous costumes and dirty dancing brought to us by the local Afro-Caribbean communities. Each community drives down the street in a massive truck and they dance around it.<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmqIPFzKmyUvVFKudie7-leDkM500NTGB_Gn9_6ETz_QrDZ-UEU7hz2vFvwFEuKXQyyHidWLllUTwIlM99tzBzmi6sEW2sjXqfyTnFTTigiiaF7CFlwLZqvo5jarjVpWRC2KWEqacGwWMI/s1600/bankholiday.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5647695432010823282" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 320px; height: 240px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmqIPFzKmyUvVFKudie7-leDkM500NTGB_Gn9_6ETz_QrDZ-UEU7hz2vFvwFEuKXQyyHidWLllUTwIlM99tzBzmi6sEW2sjXqfyTnFTTigiiaF7CFlwLZqvo5jarjVpWRC2KWEqacGwWMI/s320/bankholiday.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">On Tuesday my lovely Australian friend Evan, Charmaine and I went out for dinner. We went to our old stomping ground, Borough High Street. Boy has that place changed! Some places are still there, but it felt very weird being there. (I used to stay at the St Christopher's hostel during my last stay in London.) We went to <a href="http://www.blogger.com/www.katzenjammers.co.uk">Katzen Jammers </a>for some amazing food and drinks. We ordered a cheese & a meat platter, and I had an amazing Bratwurst sausage with fries. The food was amazing - there was so much of it! I also very much enjoyed the raspberry beer. It wasn't as sweet as I expected it to be which is great as I'm not a fan of alcoholic drinks being too sweet.<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5647697466063158242" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 240px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEWefVpN9xZ3QFGgTCzlo82tCryiyLiMrLLus_yz7Bwyt98cKdCpGgEenmtn0oDg96sNiV2OLmlIxQ7zuhjblOIwyAnzJrxlR2f8XcGOITvpKO8IyQQCSIZtTa64shN9lf8qZSE6rFQpoQ/s320/319439_10150291808609471_509894470_8129334_6160448_n.jpg" border="0" /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwINXHlxYKzQNYhdSpmmWt2Tc1qeYQvycmOPTZE7P8W6vo07buOGwp7JCkQWRm3ppB48WCELjCHWsyL-TtyiKaEByj-cfIqkyWvXIBT951xarpZNT7zyQ9BXhNf-D7tLJvJmpf71BP9XjW/s1600/311866_10150291809204471_509894470_8129353_4558035_n.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5647697194167836882" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 240px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwINXHlxYKzQNYhdSpmmWt2Tc1qeYQvycmOPTZE7P8W6vo07buOGwp7JCkQWRm3ppB48WCELjCHWsyL-TtyiKaEByj-cfIqkyWvXIBT951xarpZNT7zyQ9BXhNf-D7tLJvJmpf71BP9XjW/s320/311866_10150291809204471_509894470_8129353_4558035_n.jpg" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_kG67x5QkbiQO7FoY2NQ6_gQVRFAwGKyCGCdFf1eOje9RL9MtfiV-_ODv3be0XGjs48w14v15jT4EummTC_j4vXlpxjzk8xUz3JkLk398kaiDkJD2EcqCIiSYx9QoqeCRE0XxdrVeYMBU/s1600/320599_10150291808409471_509894470_8129329_164642_n.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5647697597028635362" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 240px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_kG67x5QkbiQO7FoY2NQ6_gQVRFAwGKyCGCdFf1eOje9RL9MtfiV-_ODv3be0XGjs48w14v15jT4EummTC_j4vXlpxjzk8xUz3JkLk398kaiDkJD2EcqCIiSYx9QoqeCRE0XxdrVeYMBU/s320/320599_10150291808409471_509894470_8129329_164642_n.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">On Wednesday, an aquintance from Melbourne happened to be doing a mini tour England through England the same time I was traveling here. We were both very surprised. Camilla and I made the trek to Camden for his gig. On the way we became lost and had no idea how to get to the Dublin Castle. We met a lovely Italian man on the street who was promoting happy hour drinks at bar. Even though this would make us later than we already were, we traded him directions on the promise we would go. The bar turned out to be pretty cool, the drinks were fantastic and we both enjoyed the soul/old school r & b tracks being played.<br /></div><br /></div></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCnvXP5fyYegnjwA5TMJx1qJrewgoYWUDoBFLQc646d6jQlpClLapq5JvP5T8awSumKZ5v9e8Z_hVSqq01CgLlWB-Q4mgyZX5MjYvo3UdlnFWMh8Slfz56d5gHdfx5-f9TbnVxUQftMmNe/s1600/298955_10150293604709471_509894470_8145246_3867574_n.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5647699676755235410" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 240px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCnvXP5fyYegnjwA5TMJx1qJrewgoYWUDoBFLQc646d6jQlpClLapq5JvP5T8awSumKZ5v9e8Z_hVSqq01CgLlWB-Q4mgyZX5MjYvo3UdlnFWMh8Slfz56d5gHdfx5-f9TbnVxUQftMmNe/s320/298955_10150293604709471_509894470_8145246_3867574_n.jpg" border="0" /></a> <div style="text-align: justify;"><br /><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">When we arrived to Dublin Castle, the adorable <a href="http://danwebbmusic.com/">Dan Webb</a> had sadly finished his set. Over the night we went on a mini pub crawl and met some interesting characters along the way. Once again we went to Soho (which is proving to be my favourite place at the moment), and had a traditional High Tea. The tea room was hidden away upstairs above a pub amongst all the crazy that is Soho. We had some tea, scones, tiny sandwiches and cupcakes. I had a lemon one and a raspberry w/ white chocolate one. All were extremely yummy.<br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /><br /><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiywauvL4aXIbErmr0KoBwKyTkEQaThu2B2N6lJ22KWnj4PWNvjEfzH_ftk9uzn9y4MHAedjAuCO4ESgc2qIncFo7HJseVJzUCOq9BZt9SMz2_0iQDJchdWYfUHam0xoDF4pQhaDqVxVzsd/s1600/307427_10150293615674471_509894470_8145342_3000023_n.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5647702814552635410" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 240px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiywauvL4aXIbErmr0KoBwKyTkEQaThu2B2N6lJ22KWnj4PWNvjEfzH_ftk9uzn9y4MHAedjAuCO4ESgc2qIncFo7HJseVJzUCOq9BZt9SMz2_0iQDJchdWYfUHam0xoDF4pQhaDqVxVzsd/s320/307427_10150293615674471_509894470_8145342_3000023_n.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br />We then headed over to the Savoy Theatre to see what is possibly my fvourite musical; Legally Blonde. A lot of people turn their noses up whenever I bring this up which makes me really sad as they are missing out on a very clever, quirky, and cheeky musical. They follow along the movie quite well and they add in bits and pieces which actually makes it more enjoyable. I was lucky enough to catch this musical when it first toured New York and loved it so much I had to see it again. I am so happy I was able too as it was even better the second time around. I was also quite pleased Charmaine enjoyed it as much as I did as I now have someone to be a dork about it with. I am a self-confessed merchandise whore, so I purchased a super cute shirt with Bruiser on it and a fluffy pink pen. I shattered all the dreams from the other girls in the cue as I scored the last one. What can I say? I love pink!<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOpgkrl23UDgSMITIZgqJ9qA1Pjgu7xwSv4T1PDzeEyC-xJG3fqzXj1n4-HXefKsuG0eEPtaXvQLoXXASLmY66eFMCh6mcqDx6EyPuoAHGsykTD_Ai5S2aYThJ6oyTceZCH8-ehaapX7bk/s1600/335787_10150293919419471_509894470_8147226_7484542_o.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5647705582308703026" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 240px; height: 320px; text-align: center;" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOpgkrl23UDgSMITIZgqJ9qA1Pjgu7xwSv4T1PDzeEyC-xJG3fqzXj1n4-HXefKsuG0eEPtaXvQLoXXASLmY66eFMCh6mcqDx6EyPuoAHGsykTD_Ai5S2aYThJ6oyTceZCH8-ehaapX7bk/s320/335787_10150293919419471_509894470_8147226_7484542_o.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />The end of the day was drawing to a close and the night was ready to begin. We went to a bar in soho for a happy hour cocktail and headed to see a hilarious cabaret duo called The Bourgeois & Maurice Band. I'm a relatively new fan of them, so I didn't really know many of their songs, but I made sure to listen to them beforehand - they were really great on stage! They had brilliant costumes, they busted some moves and had some cheeky lyrics.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605847036751428146.post-19177332899746761002011-08-30T06:00:00.000-07:002011-10-24T00:45:22.990-07:00London baby!<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">After a very very long flight, I arrived on time in London at Gatwick airport. My friend Camilla picked me up at victoria station and we made the trek home. She is one of my besties and I met back in 2007 in a hostel at London Bridge. It was very exciting to see her again! We spent the first night catching up and eating.<br /><br />On the Saturday, I had a massive sleep-in, then trekked it Oxford Circus for some basics and beauty items etc. Probably not the best idea when I was still jet-lagged, but it hadn't really hit me properly yet. I felt right at home being back in TopShop, which is rather ridiculous. I purchased a pair of Mary Janes with a double strap for only £28 which was a total bargain. I was so excited to find a pair of 5 1/2 straight off the bat! they are very comfortable as well. :)<br /><br />Later in the evening, we met up with some of her friends and went to a Walkabout; which is a pub many Australians go to. I really don't like Walkabout as it reminds me of a really bad RSL from back home. But the 'UV bubble party' they had on that night sounded fun so off we went. We scored some cheap cocktails, danced a bit and were hit on in the two most awful ways by a couple of drunk, Australian men. The bubbly party just ended up being a few bubbles floating above the crowd on the dance floor. We popped in the crowd and decided we really didn't like it. But we danced a bit more and then my jet-lag kicked in, so we left soon after.<br /><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQlg2CsMBTouHL_qMYbIGxE4BnAMFWdTdDFCnCwHlitqETx6ZY7XyL1PNoGz9CG60ybpqIbR1v5J1ZXXNS6akbNujwsZWWCzi9QDrzEx1vJcb6sule2gv96pMirF3uJyLVXPcCJ4wHgZr6/s320/321310_10150290397839471_509894470_8115142_5153054_n.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5646638209269276978" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" border="0" /><br />On the Sunday, I met up with my wonderful Canadian friend, Charmaine (I also met her at the same hostel as Camilla), and we had an amazing brunch at The Breakfast Club near Brick Lane markets. I was famished and loved it. The décor was funky and had a sort of rock n roll diner feel to it. I had a porridge with fresh berries and honey as well as a large cup of tea. I found it reasonably priced and the food was amazing! I am definitely going back there. <br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238);"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjt9gzWVSOygLz8Wg2jwYelnsczl4wG12Tngc1UX21oqmSloZI1ynC-CzqQUH5L9xTO37rFM5F5wdFtZyDaCHEw5iKzhBjLZnSGe6SpPfvDwRh62rmAiZuDMz4kqer6nxuN_tWSRLWdioeu/s320/296175_10150290402089471_509894470_8115207_1924037_n.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5646638708653491346" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" border="0" /></span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238);"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=""><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIW6L4_wQIeLIf4iNL5PLNOopQZGgtwY9zuZrisPy4SWfZY60e5knQtjZSO8zZvwqXeDG7-cloGcYhPVt2I06lN1jic9Pyd_O9Q3eFWLR1mmC8smGwYcxmzNstSN2ae_iLhOh7kwaBsaZJ/s320/314830_10150290402189471_509894470_8115208_1766105_n.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5646639047997552562" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" border="0" /></span></span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238);"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2KnJharqlSMN-9cgtyYVXZOURRo7kF5f2p2gRNCHJOEob5eYUv3gMtgXGNj8XSVMjgWtwTckHOGYCjmFhwmTvT4tO0SufnGthqwVEmwHFF0zkiwHX1uzUBtsyqsKdO8y00kShq4fAql91/s320/306266_10150290402569471_509894470_8115211_7570210_n.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5646640657688864642" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" border="0" /></span><br />We then explored Brick Lane markets. I've never been on a Sunday so didn't realise just how massive it was! I decided that as it was my first weekend, I didn't want to blow my money away so quickly, so I just had a look at what was on offer so I could come back before I go home and actually buy things. Having said that, I came away with a necklace with a cute pink diamante car pendant on it and some amazing Lemon Sherbet tea. They had some really cute dresses and lots of jewelery available. There were quite enthusiastic about vintage clothing as well which was interesting to see. One of the vintage stores even had a resident cat there. She was very cute.
